Posted by Admin | 22 Apr

Guangzhou, China, April 2025—The 137th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) kicked off in Guangzhou, attracting exhibitors and buyers from around the world. As one of the largest comprehensive trade exhibitions globally, this year’s event focused on "technological innovation and smart manufacturing," with the photography equipment zone emerging as a key highlight, showcasing cutting-edge advancements and market trends.

Smart Imaging Dominates, Chinese Brands Shine
The photography section featured leading global brands like DJI, Insta360, Canon, and Sony, but it was the innovations from Chinese manufacturers that stole the spotlight. With the rapid development of AI and computational photography, intelligent imaging devices have become the industry’s new darling.

DJI unveiled its latest Pocket 3 gimbal camera, equipped with a 1-inch sensor and AI tracking, capable of 4K/120fps recording and auto-framing, significantly enhancing the experience for vloggers and photographers. Insta360 launched its modular action camera Ace Pro, integrating AI-powered editing and live-streaming features tailored for adventurers and content creators.

Additionally, domestic lens makers like Laowa and Yongnuo showcased high-performance yet affordable lenses, covering full-frame, medium-format, and cinema-grade markets, demonstrating China’s progress in optical technology.

AI-Driven Computational Photography on the Rise
AI integration was a defining trend at the fair. Companies presented solutions for auto-editing, noise reduction, and real-time HDR, making professional-grade photography accessible to amateurs. For instance, Sirui’s AI-stabilized tripod, paired with a smartphone app, enables automated tracking and time-lapse photography.

Global giants like Sony and Canon highlighted their full-frame mirrorless cameras, emphasizing AI autofocus and high-speed shooting for sports and wildlife photography.

Market Recovery, Cross-Border E-Commerce Boosts Growth
Amid a rebound in global consumer electronics demand, photography gear saw renewed interest. Buyers from Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East showed strong enthusiasm for action cameras, live-streaming gear, and drones. E-commerce platforms like Amazon and AliExpress also explored sourcing opportunities.

“Chinese brands offer a competitive edge in innovation and pricing, especially in smart imaging. We plan to increase our orders,” said a German buyer.

Chinese Innovation Shapes the Future of Imaging
The Canton Fair’s photography zone not only highlighted technological breakthroughs but also reinforced China’s growing influence in the global imaging industry. With AI, computational photography, and smart hardware converging, the sector is poised for a new growth phase—and Chinese brands are leading the charge.
